25 years ago, I’d drink coffee from one of the ubiquitous Fuel hole-in-the-wall spots around Wellington. They were everywhere, including in the airport halfway down the departure gate walk with covers of jazz records on the walls and great jazz playing. They all seemed to have disappeared over the years, replaced by other coffee brands or some other store. However, when I was up this week for monthly office days, I walked past a new Fuel coffee spot on the Terrace, in the same position as all those years ago. Still tasted amazing, and using my 15-year-old original KeepCup.

It seems that when I travel to attend academic conferences, I end up going to amazing gigs! Last night with @nathan.haines at a sold out @powerstation_nz with 999 others. Awesome guests and wonderful to see musicians live! Loved how he slipped in some old tunes along with the new album Notes.

PHD submitted! Still a bit of a process till I’m Dr - needs to be marked and then orally defended. I estimate I wrote 500,000 words in the process which ended up being 85,000. #phdstudent #academia #vuw

Last weekend in Rotorua presenting at the DramaNZ conference. Went for a run and it was so cold it felt like ice was forming in my lungs. After 3km I called it quits and retreated to the geothermal hot pools….
